Transitioning to Management

A two day (generally) program aimed at those who are relatively new to management and the supervisor role.  This program aims to give those who will shortly be assuming their first supervisor/manager role, those who relieve in manager/supervisor roles and those who have recently moved into their first manager/leadership role, practical basic skills in management.  The workshop is highly participative and experiential.  Topics covered typically include:

  • Getting off the ground - the prequel to success;
  • What a good supervisor looks like - you perhaps;
  • New relationships with old staff - and letting go;
  • Starting right with new staff - relationships and other hazards;
  • Is THAT my role as a supervisor – where to start and where to stop;
  • Trying to make sense of the policy, procedures and practices framework;
  • Interpersonal skills – communicating confidently in a range of situations;
  • Working with your manager - a mutually beneficial relationship;
  • Preparing for the next move - always ready for change
